whats the difference in shocks ?

Hello all,

I need some new shocks for my 65 4-door belair. It came stock w/ a 6 cyl. but now has a 400 small block in it. its just too soft up front and need to stiffen it up. I'm sick of dragging the collectors every time I hit a dip . Shocks run from 18.00 to 218.00 It's my daily driver and I don't have much money to spend but if worth it, will come up with the extra. Is it worth it to spend the money for let's say Edelbrocks or just go with the cheap Monro's - something in the middle ? I am open to all suggestions. Do I have to do springs? shocks, whatever? - Thanks,

Matt

I would first get a set of springs for a V-8 fullsize up front and then a good set of gas charged Monro-matics is about $30.00 a piece. That should do it. ........Allan

Sounds good, those springs won't change the ride height will they ?

Unless your springs are really broken down, it shouldn't bring it up much more than an inch. Depends on how much the front end is sagging now. The difference between a V-8 spring and the 6 cyl spring is in the rate, not the ride height.
