If you're hard pressed you can polish your crank yourself with some super fine sand paper (400, 600, then 1000). You need to be very careful and try to do it as evenly as possible. I've done it this way with no ill effects BUT others have tried it and had problems. When possible I send my crank out to be polished for $50.
