what's your opinion on jacobs ignition?.....

i was convinced that they were the best, but soon changed my mind. the "33 1/2 spark adjustments in one degree of crank revolution" plus them going to multi-spark AFTER they mention in their book that one one spark is needed and that multiple is not necessary. now they do away with their 1 800 customer support no,and i have dealers tell me they have crappy dealer service. they would take weeks to fill an average order. WHAT'S YOUR OPINION?

As I recall, Doc Jacobs sold out to some brain dead manufacturer so the Jacobs they sell you now has little resemblance to the one he designed. WAY too expensive fro my tastes anyway.

Non support, support..

Doc here,

Like flying an Airplane in Bad weather..See and Avoid...

ANY company that has that kind of Distribution and Consumer support delay problems..has something way wrong..Common Misnomer..the bigger the company the longer the delay..untrue..IF they are doing it right..it should be next day service...and consumer support should be as lonely as the maytag man..

Try another Manufacturer

Doc

Yeah, Doc Jacobs sold the outfit to Mr Gasket, and
from what I've heard, Mr G has basically dropped
the R & D ball, plus the "Tech" support don't have
a clue... I'd be looking for something else...

I bought one of there ign control boxes a couple years ago. I think it was called a "fire control". What a POS!! engine ran like crap. I did everything the thing was just junk. The guy at the speed shop pushed me into buying it over the MSD 6Al. Needless to say I wound up getting the MSD problem gone.

Jacobs ignitions

I bought one of their Pro-Street combos several years ago when Doc Jacobs ran the outfit and never had any problems with it. Tech help was available and
quick too. I still have it in my "Turbonoma". Guess when these other companies buy out the little guys, they don't care much about backing their products and just want your $$$. Just go with MSD. PEACE>Tony
