I love Wheelstanders, and remember that whenever they came to Town we (as kids) were so excited-

My cousin built a Wheelstander, I remember when he first bought this Car, and I have this original, Color, glossy Photo from Car Craft that they took for the Cover:

Sadly, Gary still has the Car, and it sits in an Arizona Garage (I offered to help put it back together, but Gary's health is in decline)-

Thanks for the post Boothboy. Darn if that dont put a lump in my throat. I watched this car and all the weel standers at Detroit Dragway back in the late 60s. Dad worked for Fisher body back in the day and was always getting free tickets to the dragway. We went alot and the weelie cars where so much fun to watch. I was probably 11 or 12yrs old. Even built the revel model of the Hemi Under Glass..Thanks

wheel stander

When Pro-Stock came out we decided to switch from SS/A to the new class. WE built a Hemi-Cuda, got it done, took it out to the strip, got up to the line, and let her ripe. Well we did one hell of a wheel stand, all four wheels off the ground, there we are sitting on the rear bumper, knowing we are going to crash some thing. It came down and crashed the pan very hard, we were lucky the driver shut the engine off, or we would have wrecked the engine.

We were back out the next weekend, but with wheelie bars that someone said we didn't really need.
