Wheel Backspacing

Is there a chart or a method to figure out backspacing? I am fixing up a hotrod 64 T-Bird and want to get as much tire under it as possible. I plan on having 4 wheel disc brakes. Will I have to wait till I replace the brakes before I buy my wheels? I plan on 17 inch Crager SS's. What do you think? I would like to hear from anybody that has fixed up any T-Birds.
