Suggestions...
Try NAPA-last I checked they had a listing for these. And if all you need is the rubber cups, they're an American size and a generic cup will fit. Keep an eye on ebay if you're not in a big yank (there was a 4 wheel NOS kit for $15 recently that didn't get a bid) Some likely expensive suppliers: www.ipdusa.com, www.vp-autoparts.com/, www.cvi-automotive.se. Just bought a '53 PV444 and dragged it home. Split rear window! |

Here are some part numbers from a post on the Brickboard.(www.brickboard.com. Search there and you'll find just about everything you need to know about 444s.) Can't remember the name of the poster, but credit to him, whoever he is...
"I just redid the whole brake system on my '57 444. Here are the Raybestos cross-referenced numbers for you. Part# Features & Benefits Loc. Description Application Qty BH5784 Front&Rear HOSE - FRONT LEFT All 1 BH5784 Front&Rear HOSE - FRONT RIGHT All 1 BH5784 Front&Rear HOSE - REAR All 1 MC6086 MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY W/O POWER All 1 MK137 MASTER CYLINDER REPAIR KIT W/O POWER All 1 1PG SHOE SET - FRONT PV444 1PG SHOE SET - REAR PV444 WC7379 Front WHEEL CYLINDER - FRONT LEFT All 2 WC7379 Front WHEEL CYLINDER - FRONT RIGHT All 2 WC4876 Rear WHEEL CYLINDER - REAR LEFT All 2 WC4876 Rear WHEEL CYLINDER - REAR RIGHT All 2 WK106 Front&Rear WHEEL CYLINDER REPAIR KIT - FRONT All 2 WK107 Front&Rear WHEEL CYLINDER REPAIR KIT - REAR All 2 I should mention that the raybestos rear shoes (#1PG) do NOT accomodate the 444's self-adjusters...no hole in the shoe. Otherwise it was a straight forward deal." |

Well,NAPA couldn't help me neither. But I contacted a foriegn auto parts store a few miles away.He located 4 for me.$55ea for the fronts and $47ea for the rears. :o Also said the shoes are obsolete and would have to have them religned.
I found a site from swedan who has shoes for $42 a pair but wheel cylinders are evan higher at $57ea. Looks like I may be rebuilding wheel cylindres. |

Nope, haven't talked to Larry yet-thanks for his ph #, though. A '53 on eBay distracted me. Got it home a couple weeks ago. Pretty cool. Has a brass plaque with the name of the original owner (Ingmar Bengtsson) engraved on it, a 1972 brass import license plaque, and gauges in Swedish. It's the oldest 444 I know of in the states. Should I cut it up?
