I had a 1970 Chevelle SS454 years ago and I used a 8" Corvette Rally rim and a set of L60 15 Goodyears. Barely cleared but they did.

take a measuring tape under your car. Check this link out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
It will tell you all the dimensions of a certain tire so you know how tall, wide, etc each tire is. BTW whats you Backspacing and Rim size?

There are lot of variables. It depends upon how much back spacing your wheels have as well as the bulge of the tire. It is possible to put a set of meats on there that you could only install by dropping the axle and raising them inside the wheel well after the wheels were torqued to the bolt surface. Also, it depends upon how low your car rides. Really big tires are hard to mount on really low cars because the tire needs to slide past the fender wells to be installed whereas a car that rides high does not have the clearance problem. you need to measure.
