Hello. I am completley at a lose for how to choose a proper wheel size, with correct backspacing, as well as the size of the tire. Could anyone please explain this to me? It would be a great help. Thank you.
What size did you start with..?? the backspacing will govern the clearance to frame and suspension on the back side..of course tire dia and width is according to what we are wishing for and how much room is in the wheelwells...tire dia has to do with gearing..taller tires or shorter will have an effect.
I would suggest just putting on some beater tires and rims and then take some measurements to see how much room you have and go according to that to acheive a proper fitment..
Would help to know what kind of car we are working with..
Sorry...its a 1986 Grand Prix. Car isnt here to grab measurments..sorry. I would like a relativley wide and large profile (not like a drag slick however), with a slightly smaller one up front.
Now this leads me to another question. I like to back to be up a little more, and I've always enjoyed the big back small front look. However, would this hamper handeling? Should I go for the same sized front and backs and get spindles that'll drop the front? Any opinions and such? Thanks.
They have a awesome tire and gear ratio calculator that will tell ya everything ya need to know.
I use it all the time!!!
