when can I sand Acrylic Enamel?
I just painted a motorcyle gas tank with Rayflex Acrylic Enamel Metalic Purple( I used the hardener) I did 1 coat, waited 20 minutes and did another coat then 1 more 20 minutes later, it was about 85 degrees in my garage, anyway I got a Hair in the paint, my question is how long should I wait untill I can sand the hair out? as you can tell I'am new at this, I plan on sanding it then put another 2 or 3 coats on, then wait a week or so then spray the clear coat on, is that OK? thanks Dennis

Since you used hardner, you should be able to do it almost right away.

I have sanded enamel with hardener after 24 hrs.
You have to be careful though, it's still pretty soft but if you use wet/dry paper with lots of water you can do it. Just dont press real hard and keep your paper fresh, watch for buildup on the paper because a little dot of paint can scratch everything. |
