When do you apply a semi gloss stripe

When do I apply a semi-gloss strip to the car. First before body paint, or do I apply all my base coat and clear coat, then color sand and buff. The mask off and scotch brite the area and apply the semi-gloss stripe? Here is an example of what I want to do.

Just as you said is the easiest way: mask off and scotch brite the area and apply the semi-gloss stripe after all your buffing is done.

Vinyal graphics

Are those vinyal stripes and graphics durable? I have been considering applying Carmaro style stripes to the hood and tailgate of my S10 Blazer. I was told by the manger of a company that applies vinyal graphics to commercial vehicles that some will peel or can be damaged by a car wash. I only hand wash but knowing what a car wash can do to them will give me a good indication of their durability.

Painting them on with a clear coat is the best option but that is also five times more expsnsive.

I can't comment on the vinyl graphics, never had them on any thing I have owned. But I know the painted on ones will last as long as any good paint job will. I am not a big fan of the black stripes under the clear coat, its too shiney for me. I really like the DuPont Semi Gloss black, its not even really semi gloss, its more like a matte finish or a subdued black.
