where to buy leather and supplies

Hi, I am a newbie here, just joined and have not introduced myself in that thread yet. I will get there soon. I have built a few rods but never tried the interior. I just bought an old Consew 226r2 from a sewing machine mechanic and will be giving it a shot. I need to know where is a good and reasonable priced place to buy leather and other supplies. Most of the leather suppliers I find will not sale to the public. I found only one place online that sent me some samples and will sell to me. Any guidance here would be appreciated.

You should be able to buy from Miami Corp., Your Auto Interiors, and Rochford supply. If I were you, I would practice on some vinyl. Leather is a whole different animal (no pun intended) and upholstery is hard enough without taking a chance of ruining a lot of expensive material.

Thanks, I'll look at those places. What do you know about Bill Hursh leather?

I plan to practice on some vinyl and I have some old leather seat covers I can cut up to practice on.

Is it hard to find vinyl that is a close match to a leather I would choose to save some bucks on the headliner and panels?

I don't know anything about Bill Hursh Leather. There are lots of great places out there. I have my favorite leather supplier that I stick to, but they only sell to upholstery shops, etc.

There are some great faux leathers available in vinyl, and some great 100% polyurethanes (like Ultraleather) that are even better at matching leather.
