Where can I find performance parts for my 305?

I just bought an 89 caprice with a 305 and am trying to find some performance parts. I'm not trying to make a race car out of it just want to free up some HP. I know of four cylinders that have more horses than this V8. Please help!!!

I tried it with a 305 and if you´ve got a computer you´re strapped right from the start.

well when i had my 305 boat anchor in my 91 caprice .the best bang for my buck was a set of header's .the header's were the only thing that really made a difference in my motor .the chip,hi perf coil, tbi spacer, didn't really make difference's in the motor like the header's did .here's the set of header's from summit i got

I started with a Hypertech chip, no big difference there.
Then I went to Harland Sharp 1.6:1 roller rockers with a Crane cam.
The cam is good, I have it in my 350, lots of low end torque.
Other additions were an Edelbrock Performer manifold and Edelbrock headers and an Accel HEI.
The headers were connected to a 3" Flowmaster exhaust sans cat, this setup I also still have.
But you can´t beat the addition of extra cubes.
I also added a Hypertech distributor cap/coil, I had that for twelve years, just got me a new un.

I would love to buy a 350 and do a heart transplant but hell to be honest if I had the money I would start with an entirely different platform. Unfortunately I'm on a budget. Thanks a million for the help guys the headers are really sounding like a good plan.

headers and a true dual exhaust is the best bang for the buck

don't just go by the HP number. the torque is what moves the car

A good set of rear end gears will make a world of differenece with a 305. Of course it all depends how you drive...freeway, street etc. If your car has a 700R4 you can upgrade to 3:73 or even higher and still have a good highway cruise rpm.

i think in 89 caprice has the TBI system.Holley sell's a 670 cfm TBI but it about 5 to $600.00 for the unit .if you what a little more flow get a TBI 1"inch spacer that will make it flow a little better but not much .yes i do recommend running true dual's .cut the y pipe right out and put in new pipe's .with the 700r4 you can put 3.73 in it and it really won't be that bad on the highway like 327NUT said .that;s a good start to jump all over some of those ricer's
