where did this engine come from

i have an "83 el camino that has been swapped from diesel to a oldsmobile 350. i am having alot of trouble finding out what kind and where this engine could have come from. any help would be great.

The olds 350 was used in darn near every oldsmobile from the 60's up to the late 80s. It could even be found in some other GM models.

The diesel that was in it was an Olds 350 diesel, so the gas version is a nearly direct swap.

As an Olds owner, call Mondello if you want to hop it up, and keep it over a chevy 350, they are not expensive to build and carry a unique factor.

Be ready to buy forged flat tops if you want to hotrod ti thoguh, they don't make cast flat tops.

google search "olds faq", it will tell you all about prittymuch every olds engine ever made. just match the numbers on your block. hope that helps!

ap72 I dont wanna **** in yer cheerios but i wouldnt buy anything from "mondildo" good advice yes but they really try selling alot to you wich in turn they just repackage and jack the price up he can try 442.com or my favorite is realoldspower.com lotsa know how onthere and lotsa good info for his olds powered elk however not just the unique factor he'll prolly get better mileage with it over the chebby as well I love seeing olds powered chebby's hate seeing chebby powered Olds
