Where do you buy parts from?

Hey all... First post here. I just got a call from my machine shop and got the specs for the block, rods, and crank. Now it's time to order my parts. When I built my 69 Dodge Dart GTS 15 years ago, I used Jegs for my parts. I know they are still around and Summit racing, too. What are some good places to buy from these days?

The build is for my boat, a 1975 18ft. Spectra jet with a 455 Olds. I have been in touch with Mondello, but their prices are pretty high. Just looking to see what everyone uses these days. Thanks for your help.

Matty

I have to tell you, when I have machine work being done on a motor I buy all my parts that are going to be in that motor from the guy doing the machine work. I let them make the few bucks on those parts and then I expect for them to stand behind them if they should fail. Buy from someone else and the machine shop says "It's not us" and I don't blame them.

I have to agree with Brian, however my Engine guy sells me parts at his cost (he is a Dealer for ATI, Scat and such), which amazes me-he has been very good to me, and I am going to give him a big tip when he's done (as I know he has saved me a bunch)-

Generally summitt and jegs.

Unfortunately based on recent experiences i feel Advance and pepboys are going somewhat downhill. Mind you, i'm not happy about their decline, i'm just stating my observations. Hopefully, it's just a fluke.

Honestly, Pepboys is for buying oil, air fresheners and seat covers, PERIOD.

You need to find the REAL parts store in town (or near by town) where the local shops buy their customers parts. You can bet it isn't a Pepboys or any other chain. NAPA, is an exception along with a couple others that are private owned stores who simply fly the flag, they are STILL an independent store.

But Kragen, Peppy and Autozone like places, forget about getting real parts there.
