I need help. I used my camera before I removed engine and afterward, I then pressure washed the engine compartment down and went to check it after it dries and this strange wire appeared. I have a 700r in my 1984 chevy k10 and all wires are hooked up there (4 connector) and the transfer case has it's wires. I can account for all pollution stuff and even the heater blower (which says what these colors go to) and I don't believe that the transmission has ever been changed but was rebuilt years ago. help
usually that color connector is on the canister purge solenoid... or one of the 2 sets of wires on the air injection diverter valve.. there is a small chance its on the EGR vacuum solenoid..
is there any chance you might be able to identify which connector and which cavity it goes..
even if you just take pictures of the connectors Plugged into the computer. on both sides of the connectors.. perhaps the 8th digit of the vin number.. or a picture of the emission label.. there were a LOT of changes in the early to mid 80s.. even the 122?????? number off the ECM. may help me identify that circuit..
there is a small chance it plugs into the vehicle speed sensor harness from the tail housing of the transmission or transfer case..
I've pulled all the pollution stuff off and most was controlled by vacuum and the 2 connectors that went to purge air and altitude are accounted for. The only electronics on this engine was a knock sensor that would retard the ignition up to 20 degrees, I've done away with that a long time ago. I was thinking it was for torque converter lock up but those wires are in the 4 connector and the kick down is cable controlled. I'll get it one way or another. Thanks for the info
