Where to find machine turned metals?

I'm looking for a good source to find sheets of machine turned aluminum or stainless steel. I found a local macinist who said he might be able to make it but he didn't sound to confident. I'm going to fab the dash for my bucket out of fiberglass, smoked plexiglass and machine turned metal so I need to make sure it look right. Anyone know a good place to find it?

re: Where to find machine turned metals?

if it was me, i'd fab it up out of plain sheet metal, steel or aluminum, doesn't matter, and do the turning myself. eastwood sells a kit for machine turning, it's basically a hard rubber eraser that you chuck up in a drill press (or drill if'n it's a bigger surface than the press will accomodate) and put to it. pretty easy, just tedious and time consuming.

Completely unrelated but funny

Sometimes I wish my name was Larry because I'm a big fan of Indianhead Larry and I'd call my self Buckethead Larry.
I'm not sure what that has to do with anything but I posted it anyway.

LOL! "Dr. Larry Wicked" -- that's hilarious!

There's definitely a GREAT sense of humor in every "Larry" I've ever known!! What IS that??

re: Where to find machine turned metals?

i think maybe, growing up with the name larry, you get a twisted or slightly warped sence on humour???. (that was for our canadien friends. )

re: Where to find machine turned metals?

Thom, my son-in-law also lives in TX and is named Larry. Does that make us father-in-law-in-laws?
