Where it Interiors by Shannon & Krist Kustoms
I've seen Krist post once in a blue moon but, I havn't seen Shannon's posts in a while. Are you guys still out there? Is business volume keeping you guys away? I originally joined this site for the info and insight you two provided. Please let me know what's up. Anyone else feel the same? Let's let them know.
Thanks, Robert |
My understanding is that when Krist got a contract to write a book, the publisher insisted that he stop giving away his advice for free here on HR.Com. In fact, I think he posted on that at one point...maybe you could use the "advanced search" feature to find that post if you are really interested.

I've searched back a ways (2007) and did not find anything about a book or reasons why. Not saying it doesn't exist, but rather that my skill with search engines sucks. =) I have found a few posts this year for Krist but it's been quite awhile for Shannon. I did however find a Facebook page for Interiors by Shannon if anyone wants to look him up.
Thanks, Robert |
I'm here. I don't visit the site too much anymore. My business has taken me in a direction that has put me behind a desk with a computer and telephone A LOT more than the inside of a car (where I would rather be). Because of the time spent in front of the computer at the shop, I really have no interest in sitting in front of a computer at home. I am working with a national distributor for my parts line, if they pick it up, I can start working on cars more, and find my way back to the site in the evening. I was just doing a little computer work, wrapping up some 2009 stuff and popped on to the site...

Not doing the book, my father wrote a book for the same publisher years ago and got screwed on the money that was owed to him for a couple recent pressings. So I backed out......................I have had thoughts of doing a video series on my own...............if you want it done right, do it yourself. |

And I think your idea of the video is spot on. Much better medium for your craft than still photos and a lot of text. |
Thanks for the update. Congradulations on the success of your products, that's a great revenue builder. Most of the chopper guys loose their money on the wild builds because of time/talent involved, they make their money on reproduceable parts. (OK, they do t-shirts and TV too). Our loss but, I'm glad your still around. Going to do a Facebook page?
Thanks, Robert |
That's one down. Just leaves Interiors by Shannon. Anybody?.... Anybody?.... Bueller?....Bueller?
Thanks, Robert |

No. To tell you the truth, I hate the social "networking" sites. I had a MySpace page for a little while and it drove me insane! Being in a business that involves a lot of my time, I put a very high value on my personal time. I like to have a good divider between my business and my personal life (a giant brick wall maybe?) I refuse to give out my cell phone number to customers, never give out my home telephone to customers, and when I run into customers during my time off of work, I try my best to not sound rude, but I avoid all business talk or car talk. I try and not let my business consume my whole life! I had a "What's Going On" section on the website last year, but I got too busy to keep it updated. Maybe I will bring back that section of the website...that would probably be the closest thing I would do as far as a personal blog. |
Your video
Shawn,
We have spoken on the phone several times over the years about upholstery as I too work in the field. I also work in broadcast television production (25 years plus), burning the candle at both ends for too many years. (Upholstery 8am-2pm, Television, 3pm-12am). If you do decide that you are going to get involved with video, feel free to contact me here if I can offer some advice or insight. Andy P. |
