where are year model engine numbers located

My 300 6 cylinder has 2 sets of identifaction numbers on the passenger side one is right above the oil pan on the moter and the other is about midway, and toward the back, almost where the tranmission bolts on which numbers tell me the year model.

cast in numbers will be for casting reference only. Any associated years might carry over for several years, though not usually on a Ford. Something like D7TE-6015AA, or E6TE might mean either 77 casting D7 or 86 casting like E6. F indicates 90s with the second digit the exact year.

Stamped in numbers might be of value as to exact vehicle year, assembly plant, and seqential vehicle manufacturing number.... example 7A123456, might mean 67 or 77 or 87 or 97 etc A being Atlanta assembly plant, and 123456 the vin sequence of the vehicle.

Most Fords have metal tags with codes on them attached to the intake manifolds that indicate the model year and applications.
