Have got a whine in my C6 auto transmission. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. Have checked the fluid and it is full, and is pink. I noticed the last time I drove the car the whine was louder. Thought it might be because its winter and its cold and I hadn't driven it for six weeks. Do any of you guys have any ideas or maybe it could be something else. Thanks
I had the same problem happen. It happened after I took my car to have the transmission rebuilt. The first time I heard the whine I pulled over. When I checked the trans case, it was really, really hot. And my cooling lines going to the radiator were cold. So I drove back home very slowly. Letting the car cool down all the way back home.
Shop guy told me that they missed some small valve, or something like that. The pulled the trans apart and looked over everything. Fixed the thing they missed and away I went.
I periodically check the temp of the trans case, and it run a lot cooler. But it still makes that noise. Not as bad as before, but I can hear it. And the noise takes about 15 minutes of driving to show up.
I am thinking of adding a trans temp gauge to my car, just so I can keep and eye on the temperature.
