Have you also lost 2nd and 4th?If you have ,your sun gear shell is the culprit.

I'm not sure it happened right when i got home and went to back up. i need to get to work tonight so i'll know then. I called a tranny shop and they said it would be ok to drive it just dont try to use reverse. so maybe i will have time to trouble shoot later.

That's because it will be a bigger repair bill when you bring it to them.

I am in horicon. But if the price is right whats a little drive. the shop is also suspecting the sun shell. so far i have a quote of $450.00 just to pull it and inspect it. does that sound like a fair price?

I would ask for an overall estimate for repair,[rebuild].I don't like the deal where they say they charge this much just to find out.I would get an estimate and do some shopping around.

Thanks Briscoe. I kind of thought the same thing that was a pretty high number just to pull it out and look at it to find a problem for sure. I have been calling around, and found a new tranny for 900.00 so if all else fails I will do the dirty deed myself and just put in a new tranny.
IN the meantime gonna call around to some local shops and see what I can find out.
I appreciate all the help and input, might be asking for some more info soon
Will let ya know how it all turns out.

The sun gear shell problem is pretty common. What I'm saying is when you go back with new trans you don't want to go thru this again.

The updated shell or the beast shell would be a good choice.I tig weld the splines to the shell in 4 places, for 10 years now,no failures! Good luck.

Hey briscoe I got my tranny in. They rebuilt mine and put the beast in it. Along with a corvette servo and what ever else they did to give it good hard shifts. Thanks again for all your help.
