I saw this the other day Bernstein , Bazemore and Alley from ´81.
Alley has been given the elbow from his position at the NHRA.

Although I like KB and he was the fastest in funny car ( Force and KB would be something to see ) I think the Snake said it all when he said KB should give back all the retirement goodies he acquired (collectibles) the first time he retired. Leaves me with the question " whatever happened to a mans word, is everyone full of BS these days? " Seems no one stands behind what they say, truth is fast becoming just another word in the dictionary. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that this is the cause of my post it is that this just another glaring example of what has become the norm. Not a good norm either.

therefore the statement "born free hyped to death"

[QUOTE=crazy larry]who'd of thunk?

Reminds me of Austin Power's quote regarding Liberace. "I didn't see that one coming."

Let's face it, DSR has a whole bunch of money tied up in NHRA racing. With 3 out of 16 funny cars in most fields, they don't have to have every car win. Therefore, the team orders not to pull the brake handle if the car breaks the tires loose. Whit wants to win. If that means pulling the brake and breaking some engine parts, so be it.

On the flip side, I don't think Whit understands he is an employee. If the boss says, "Don't pull the brake handle.", you don't mouth off about it on national TV. Likewise, you don't punch your team mate, cuss out the starter, or drive recklessly in the general vicinity of camera crews.

If I were Matco, I don't think I would throw my advertising dollars at a team that didn't do everything in its power to win or one that has a spoiled brat for a driver. With this group, they had both. DSR only fixed half the problem, IMHO.

spoiled brat drivers are a huge turn off. These type of clowns should loose their rides and if I were king would be relegated to driving the canteen truck.

That would put most of the NASCAR drivers jobs in jeopardy..................

your right, shoulda read tf/fc.... sorry.

I never thought about the "retirement" deal..... i bet he made a chunk off that whole media package.... I can also see the other teams being hot about ray alley being able to peruse their setups, but it was john force that said "we all run the same junk anyway..."....
i liked the good old days when you bought a t shirt off the trailer the car was hauled in, not the "souvenier" trailer....

force made the remark once, when scotty cannon challenged him to a 100K dollar match race,"hell, I make that much on a weekend just selling t shirts." .....

and on the note of spoiled brat drivers...... leads me to the dsr prostock motorcycle team... I don't know why it bothers me, because psm time is get up and get another beer time, but the dsr riders pee and moan alot... her more so than him.... I wonder where they'll be in a few...???? of course, i haven't heard her rag about wanting nhra to change the tree for psm much lately... I guess the reason it bothers me, is you have 16 bikes running on sunday, you redlight, and it's the tree's fault???? yeah, uh huh.

Bazemore is the biggest whiner in the NHRA. Nothing makes me happier, than to see him launch his supercharger against the straps.

the stories i could tell---and will----after next (my last) season. bazemore is what he is----24/7.
bernstein?

tire shake makes me smile sometimes.

i've been around racing for over 30 years. long enough to remember some of these -----uhhh---people---when they showed up at the track with a beater car pulled by a pickup truck and an open top 18 foot trailer. i've seen them come and go.

from experiance.

john force still is what he is---27/7, and that's a good thing as far as i'm concerned. he always has something to say---and say--and say, but the guy is genuine in my opinion.

i have a hot wheels car in a package that is a matco funny car from a few years back. it was given to me from the dad of a funny car pilot. he said "thank you for being here to save my son's life" i nearly fell backwards. that driver i have talked to a few times during practice days, and even 1 year during the nats, and i know full well how busy the team is.

i have liked dean skuza ever since, and i would do whatever i could on, or off the track for his family or him. i will do whatever i can on the track for any person. that's the job description, but for some, it becomes very personal.

i deeply miss eddie and ercie. the deep down goodness of these people is amazing. when they were around it was sort of like a family reunion powered by nitromethane.

there are people who bond with others, and are the salt of the earth. then there are others. in the heat of battle i understand sometimes drivers say or do things that make them appear to the fans to be something other than what they are. sometimes they appear to be EXACTLY what they are. sometimes, i just sorta grin when things happen.
