Post white smoke

I have not run this engine for about 3 years and it is puffing white smoke out of the left side exhaust. I just let it run about 10 or 15 minutes and then shut it off. I have a few guesses but would like some otherideas...thanks Brad

It sounds like steam is coming out your exhaust it could just be condensation evaporating from your motor and exhuast I would run the engine for a while longer and see if it doesnt clear up. Is the motor running smooth no misses?

Yea, the engine started up on the first crank, and is running like a champ. I thought that it was just burning some junk out of the system, but then got kind of worried and shut it off.

I blew a head gasket in my mustang and when I fired it the first time after fixing it there was a ton of white smoke coming out my right tail pipe it took about 30 mins for it to completely burn off. If it is running good I dont think you have a blown head gasket. Check your oil for any milky residue and check your radiator for oil. Check all your plugs to make sure nothing is a miss. Steam is the only thing I know of that could be white.

Thanks, I did pull the plugs and did not notice anything wrong, and I did check the oil and found it was the same as before I started it. I did not check the radiator for oil. How long before that would show up?

I just looked under the cap and did not see any oil floating, is that what you mean?
