Post Whitewalls, porta-walls and paint

I want to put whitewalls on my 63 Fairlane wagon, but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on new tires that I don't really need. And the plan is to sell the car next year, so I'm trying to keep my total cost on the car down.

Can anyone offer me any advice on porta-walls or white wall paint? The porta-walls seem like a good cost effective solution. I can keep my radials and have the "look". Any problems with them I should be aware of?

Some friends are suggesting paint too. I haven't seen it but I guess the new issue of CKDeluxe has an article on painting them. Thoughts on that?

I'm hoping to drive the car next summer and sell it, which is why I don't want to spend $300-600 on new tires that I don't REALLY need. Thanks for your help.

Portawalls suck. They break and flap when you go fast. Paint works. Latex house paint, garage floor paint or any other durable paint works well.

Portawalls, aka Mickey Mouses, flex and create additional tire heat if you are concerned with that.
