re: who makes the better tools
well we have a bostich air gun, but we use the piss out of it and we go through about 2-3 a year
i was just wondering cause if sears exchanged them i'd just buy one of those craftsman guns instead so i don't have to buy one every 6 months, i could just exchange it whenever it decides to take a crap J |

nuthing lasts forever anymore but if used a nail gun that much I would look into the Paslode guns they are self powered no hose no cords

re: who makes the better tools
trust me when I tell you they are the cats meow of the nailer's
its got a gas combustion drive a fuel cell spark plug & a piston and the one I used would shoot 16 penny nails all day long ! If you do this for a living Its worth looking at I thought the same thing when I seen them it changed my attitude and thats not easy to do ![]() think about it no cord or hose there for no power source to set up no generator to set up or compressor just squeeze the trigger and go SR66 __________________ I'm not prejudice, I hate everyone

Snap On Tools are the best
I am a mechanic and as far as i am concerned Snap On is the only tool you can depend on. I have several tool trucks that come to my shop and they all are good for some things but you have to be careful what you buy. Matco tools are pretty good but they have alot of similarities to craftsman as does SK. If I had craftman tools i would be at sears every day. I am a toolaholic and my only fix is Snap On

re: who makes the better tools
Fbody, I agree 100%, Craftsman makes a pretty good tool for all-around use and they have an excellent warranty but if someone has to push their tools to the limit they would need that warranty quite often. Again as I have said in the past it really depends on what you do with them and if you demand a lot then Snap-On will be there when you need them.

Tools
Hi:
My choice of tools is snap-on for mechanical work. I base this on balance, feel and accuracy; yes, I am writing about tools. In addition, I consider service and non hastle warranty. I am using tools which I purchased in 1964 and find that snap-on honors warranty on tools which are showing wear. One exception is that I use a no-name ratchet since my snap-on strips regularly. Air tools have replaced the ratchet in many applications. A lower priced choice of tools is the high polished professional series sold by Canadian Tire stores. They are excellent in design, finish and overall appearance and are about 1/3 of the snap-on price. I have found that many of the other low cost tools are not easy to service and are often discontinued making a lifetime warranty impossible. I find that any type of tools are better than the plow wrenches, chisel & hammer along with a worn adjustable wrench which my dad used on the farm. Best wishes for the new year Robert Nicholson Last edited by Perrin556 : 12-31-2005 at 07:57 AM. |

re: who makes the better tools
I was talking to some tool reps at a trade show and the guy told me that Stanley, Mac and Husky were all made in the same plant, but were just stamped different. But hey, that's just what they say!!

__________________________________________________ _ That is not the half of it. These plants may make air guns and nothing else or they may specialize in sockets and hand tools. When these plants are trying to sell you something they will show you the air tool they make for CP, Ingersoll, Sears, Snap on, Mac, etc. The do not try and hide anything. The insides will be to the spec of the tool but they will make the outside case anyway you want and any color. Different plants have different quality tools but you will find each will be manufacturing different tools for all the competitors |

Favorite tools
In my experience, I prefer Craftsman. Store is close, prices are good and they have a "no questions asked free replacement." I don't mind Snap On but the numbers for the socket sizes are hard to read. They (Snap On) do make just about every tool known to man if you have the $$$. Proto is also good.

re: who makes the better tools
twesson, Exactly the problem. Craftsman 12 point sockets are a good example as they are good for nothing except ruining bolt heads because of the sloppy fit. Snap-On(or any of the pro brands)are far less likely to slip and ruin fasteners or KNUCKLES! They are also far less likely to break with the same results.
