Dont really know if terminals is the right term for them, but im looking for a couple of pieces.
When I say terminals im talking about the copper pieces attached directly to the wire inside the plastic connector housing.
Im looking for the "terminals" used in the gauge connector of a 71 chevelle SS harness.
Im also looking for the "terminals" used in the bulkhead connector on the engine side of the firewall for said chevelle harness.

You can buy a Box (case) of ring terminals At ACE HARDWARE for about $8 bucks..(insulated or un~insulated) The Case is about 500 terminals..Good for harness repair.(All three sizes..Red, Blue and Yellow)

If you go un~insulated get some Heat-shrink tubing to slide over the terminal "Barrel".

If at all possible, the best procedure is , Solder & Crimp... Tin the wire, tin the terminal, then join them together in the terminal, and apply heat and solder until it flows smooth and shiny..then crimp..That installation will last forever..never give you a problem.

Ah jeez I wish I had a camera to try to show you guys what im talking about.
They arent ring terminals and they arent normal male terminals either.
The ones for the bulkhead connector have a split down the middle where you bend them out insert them into the housing and they snap in securing them in the plastic housing.
Ive looked at advance/home depot for these kinds of terminals and have found nothing that I can use.
The other gauge connector terminals appear to be even more specialised i dont realy know how to describe that one other than it looks like a thin strip of copper bent over itself and kinda bowed out on one side..
I made a cruddy pic of the bulkhead terminal that im looking for hopefuly itll give you an idea of what im looking for.

Are you referring to the multi~Pin firewall CONNECTOR? Where all the wire plug in to to pass through the firewall?

And Also the instrument cluster laminate card plug well?

If so you have a few options, Painless Harness, The Dealer (maybe), Special order through your local speed shop, or The Bone Yard..

The last is the Cheapest, but you have to cut and graft wires, as opposed to Crimping and soldering pins in a new connector..

Maybe Draw a sketch of what you have and scan and post it so we can get a better Idea..

You could use to get a selection of terminal ends from THEXTON TOOLS (PN 569 GM REPAIR KIT) (Do search-might have to call Tech). The individual connectors are also available from your GM Dealer. You need to find a knowledgeable and patient counterperson. FORD has a repair kit that gives you each style of terminal on a short lead for field repair and I am sure GM has a similiar system. Both also have repair pigtails (special catalog item) to make repairs quicker and easier.

If you are trying to replace pins in the OEM harness you are more than likely out of luck. You could try a few electrical/electronic supply houses.

Final option is to replace the entire plug with one you salvage from a scrap yard.

I used some terminals like that last year when I had to use an American Auto Rewire kit. The little cut part of the spade is what keeps the terminal in the molded plastic housing. Auto rewire might be able to sell those individually.
One time I was looking for a special connector and found it in a catalog that my local napa store had. I'll look and see if I can get the name. They had all the pin terminals like the oem stuff also.

Wow thanks for all the helpful suggestions guys! I cant believe there are tha many types of terminals.
I think I have found a source that sells BOTH the connectors I need.

Near the bottom is one listed as GM PC Bow pn#0789 that looks similar to what I have in the gauge connector.

the gm 56 series are most likely the ones you will need. I had the same dillema not too long ago, if you need quite a few of them, try googling waytek wire (it may be www.waytekwire.com) and they have the terminating ends you seek. I think you have to buy at least 50 though, that is the downside if you only need a few.

Turns out its actually orders of 100pc or at least $5 are accepted.

i went to my local parts house (its a bumper to bumper chain). But the cost is 4.50 a box for 10 terminals. to get the spade type terminal (male end) out of the housing, you have to take a pair of needle noise pliers and pinch the sides in from the top. While you are doing that, pull the wire from the other end a little bit, and it should slide right out. Most likely there is a lot of tar and nasty stuff in there to protect the terminals. hope that helps.
