I am completly re-building a Chevy rear end. I wondered who makes the best ring and pinion gears. I have a new Eaton TruTrac, and I also needed to know what is the best kit for shims and bearings. Also where is the best site to find all of these.

I've been installing Yukon gears with Yukon installation kits for several years now and they are as good as any other brand that I have used. The best kits are from DTS, Dewco, Tom's Differentials or Randy's Ring & Pinion. The worst kits are from Ratech, Richmond, Jeg's, Summit and a few others.

X2 Yukon gears Don't use Richmond if you want a quite ring & pinion.

Thanks, I am glad you pointed me away from Summitt and Richmond. I do want quiet gears. I'll go with the Yukon gears and one of the installation kits you guys recommended.

How long has Richmond been bad? I've set up a lot of rears using them with good success but haven't set any up in the last year or so....

Richmond has good gears that are quiet, and they have a gew that make a little noise. So does everybody else. I've set up many US Gear, Richmond, Precision, Yukon, Motive and others that were quiet, and each one has had a few that made a little noise.
