Why 2 inch cutouts???

I was looking in the Jegs catalog the other day and noticed they have the exhuast cutouts with the cable that lets you open you exhuast with the pull of the cable.
Neat, but they only come in 2 inch size???
Why wouldnt they make em bigger? Nobody with any type of race car runs under 2.5 inch exhuast and a lot go with 3 inch. Not a big seller, but a neat idea. HG

Thats a good question. Its the same with summit racing too. I honestly havent heard good things as far as the sealing of the cable types. That said, I havent ever used them or any of the cutouts for any length of time so I cant say that any of them seal for sure (or have problems at all for that matter).

I don't even remember what company makes those particular cutouts, but I remember seeing them in JC Whitney, a few years ago, before they had ANY new and/or name brand products, which makes me suspect that they are a leftover old-school product, from back in the days when 2" duals were considered performance exhaust, and whoever makes them either went out of business or at least couldn't afford to pay their engineering department anymore, so bigger ones weren't developed.

Just my theory.

Summit has them here but they are 2 inch also. They have them to 3 1/2 inches with bolt on covers, no cables.

I would just get bolt ons if you really want to have them open for the track or whatever if you want them to be on command try electric cut outs

I have never heard anyone say the butterfly type worked well for them

Maybe someone should start fabricating some cutouts to fit on the ends of existing collectors.
