why are cheap cars so expensive to get parts for

i have a 92' ford festiva (even though i am a G.M. guy) and it costs $250.00 for a single head light!!!

250 dollars for a single headlight? You can get a whole fender for a 54 chevy at that price. You've got to be kidding, 250 bucks? Go to the junkyard. Surely there'a at least one rust bucket with one eye left on her.

It's stuff like that makes my old Dodge Ramcharger a true economy car. Most of these newer cars with plastic molded headlamps run at $250 and up. When the Mark VIIIs came out, the headlamps were over $750 each (including ballast).
