boy oh boy what has any of this to do with what a hot rod is or a custom or any thing.We who are old and wise and drive not talk,dont care what any body thinks whats under the hood.In the fiftys we said that.Most guys didnt have hoods.It was and is for alot of us the drive and blowin doors off any body who wants to play.No matter what you run its how fast you wanna go.Not what you got but ask any old drag racer.How much you spend determines how fast.Reliable ,keep it sock stock.You can belittle any engine .cant we live and not
 argue with each other over what your running.

Every once in a while someone with the "can't we all get along" attitude dredges up this old thread. That might not be a bad thing..... but when he asks, "what has any of this to do with what a hot rod is or a custom or any thing" its pretty obvious he has no clue. Although he claims to be an old drag racer, it's clear he hasn't been to a major street rod event in the last 30 or 40 years. Anyone who had would understand my original essay. Whether they agree with it or not is neither here nor there, but to ask that kind of a question just shows he's clueless.

It sounds more like you are putting down the people that like Chevy,more than you are putting down the Chevy motor,well i don't follow anybody,I put what i like!!I don't Judge a hotrodder by what he put's in his car,but by the way he presents himself!!!I look more for the modification in his car,And the creativity.The color of a car bothers me more,Than anything!!! Same old red,and blues.I understand what you are saying about so many sbc,You just make it seem like you hate the people,Instead of the sbc.

Honestly Tango, "Faster"? Go to the drags and you will see EVERY kind of motor blow the doors off your small block Chevy. AND like wise you will see your small block Chevy blow the doors off ever kind of motor on another day.
Hell, I have seen Hondas, VW bugs (a few with Girls driving them) Flathead Fords, and many others running sub ten seconds, can your Chevy? I have also blown the doors of a Boss 429 Ford Mustang and a T bucket with a blown 426 Hemi with my 1965 Buick Gran Sport. It doesn't mean that the Buick is "faster" than Ford and Dodge Hemis! And God knows I have beat the doors off of a crap load of SBCs. It means that I beat THOSE cars on a given day because the owner didn't know how to set them up. Give those cars to the right guy and the next day they would have taken my by a second. Does that make them "better", no. Put cars in the same CLASS and run out this class all over the country racing thousands of cars and the last one will be the "fastest". Less than that, all you have is what car is the fastest in ONE race, period. Brian

To me its like eating chocolate chip cookies for the rest of my life, no variety. Why not be different and eat a peanut butter cookie, or even a sugar cookie. Why does it have to always be chocolate chip cookies, why are they better than the peanut butter cookies or sugar cookies???? Can't we all just get along and have a variety of cookies, errr I mean engines......

I build cars to win and they do . I hope you do the same . I own all types of cars even built Oldsmobile's loved beating GSs with it . And I have a rust free 1965 FORD GT Mustang 289 high perf . It sits next to my Monte Carlo and SB Chevy's . And they all get-along .
