Why the need for 2k urethane or epoxy ?

I need some clarification...I've searched, but haven't been able to pin this to a definite yes/no answer. As I read through the numerous posts on primer, I keep reading that if you need the sprayable filler (Featherfill G2, Slicksand, etc) to help with difficult areas, that you then need to cover those products with 2k urethane or epoxy primer.

However, on Evercoats website info for Featherfill G2, it reads that you can directly go over the top of the Featherfill G2 with paint. I'm confused...if I can paint directly over the Featherfill (with the manufacturers blessing), why is it necessary to spray with 2K urethane/epoxy ?

I am budget limited and this is a project car...that'll only see primary use as a weekend cruiser. Since I haven't painted a car in over 20 years, probably gonna go with a SS urethane to get my feet wet again. Thanks

Most people use a urethane primer surfacer over feather fill because it doesn't sand real well with 320-400 grit paper.
