I recently re-registered and insured my truck (85 GMC Jimmy 305), took the doors and back cab off. I already plan on taking out the carpet and painting on some Herculiner but as far as the seats go (cloth) I'm looking for inexpensive yet comfortable ideas to weather proof them. I've thought of quite a few things whether they're practical or not they'd work.
1. Boat seats (the plastic kind with the stand.) Not very safe, fairly cheap at least for the driver and passenger seat.
2. Making my own vinyl covers using the same vinyl used on boats. Not very cheap for 2 bucket seats and one bench. ($17.99 a yard.)
3. Custom made neoprene covers. Excellent but expensive!!
4. Screw it and have moldy seats.
If anyone has a suggestion please feel free to share.
