Wider wheel arch help

Hi all,
it looks like i need too extend my Rearwheel arches on my jaguar xjs by about 3" wider what do you all recomend the best way to do this. Do i cut them off and weld in patches to move the area out or i thought about getting a whole rear wing and weld it on Top and cut out the old one under it dose this make sence?

I have plenty of information about several different methods of making fenders/guards wider that I cannot post on this site because of a small amount of commercial content in the links. You can PM me for free video snippets on youtube as well as an album showing some of the work.
