Is the high volume pump draining the sump? (unlikely), have you installed a top end restrictor? In my experience the most common cause of a pressure drop hot is too much clearance between the cam and cam bearings. Generally if the crank/mains are worn the pressure drop is constant , same for pump problems. Good luck, Ian.

What kind of oil pan? How far is the oil from the crank? Do you use a windage tray? Scraper? How far from the pan is the pickup?

Change your filter first. Try a Wix 51060

i had exactly the same problem with my 408 sbc, i changed the pump twice, checked every bearing, changed the filter. i had good oil pressure at idle and at cruise but when i accelerated from say 3400 to 4000, the pressure would drop by around 10-15 psi. the problem turned out to be an oil level issue, with the longer stroke that the 400s have ,the crank was getting into the oil and aerating it on acceleration. the answer in my case was to lower the oil level by 2 qts and the problem went away.. george
