Post wierd question on heads, please HELP!

I have a 1980 motor that I bought reconditioned with 4 bolt mains. I just now noticed that the heads have different casting numbers. 462624 and 333882. Are there any problems with these having different numbers????

I have a set of 487X heads that need a little work. Would it be better to use these instead??

Im gonna say no. I believe both are the same cc and valve size. If so there just different casting #s. Maybe PM 4Jaw and ask. HG

the 882 heads are just an earlier casting, it is claimed that they flow better than the later 624 heads which are thin and crack at the center ex valve seats and up from the center head bolt hole. both were available with large 1.94 intakes or 1.72 intakes, they as most of the castings since 72 have approx 76 cc chambers . an interesting thing i have run across is that the 882 heads are usually cracked through the exh seat if they are from a 4-bbl motor but if they are from a 2-bbl motor they are usually ok. same casting just the intake seat and bowl are hogged out bigger
