will 305 trans fit on 350

i have a 78 el camino with a 350 and the trans went out, iwas going to bur a z28 camaro with a 305 for the transmission but am not sure if they will work

same bolt pattern on back of engine block for the trans on both engines..

If they are the same type of trans (TH350 or TH200, for example) then it's a bolt-in. If the Camaro has a 700R4 and the ElCo has something different, then you're into a different crossmember, possibly different driveshaft, etc.

Th400 requires a shortened drive shaft and a different cross memeber. But unless its a 70 (Maby 71 too) your stuck with a TH350 which is a great transmission stock if your not pushing much more than ~350lb-ft

Most likely a TH350 in the Z (2nd Gen 70-81). Unless its a 3rd gen then the 700r4's were used. (82-93, arround '93 brain fart.)
