Will a 68-72 Chevy 12 bolt rearend fit a 68 GTO?

I am the Owner of a 1968 Pontiac GTO. I just completely destroyed my rear end. I talked to a rearend specialist and he said that a rear end that would fit in a 68 GTO would be one from a 68-72 chevelle . Can anyone help me.

I EDITED your thread title slightly.... it could have been taken as an advertisement. I know you are not advertising since that is not allowed in the main forums.

IF you need to purchase a rear diff for the GTO , place an ad in the classified section..... they are free to use for members.

good luck and welcome to the HR board

Not sure if this is the question, but the answer is, "Yes, the rear end form a 68 to 72 Chevelle will fit a 68 GTO. You may have to change u-joints to a conversion style. You might have to fiddle with the brake lines. But the rear will bolt right in. (Actually, unless you are real lucky, it is going to be hot, dirty work getting the old bolts out - make sure you have the car well supported by the frame.)
