Will A 82 700r4 Fit Into My 85 C-10 Without Problems?

I have a 85 with a 700r4 and found one on a 82 c-10, I have never done anything like this before but am ready to get my hands dirty if it will work. My trany is starting to slip and would appreciate any response.

thanks in advance

Frank

get one from like 90 & up the older ones are suppose to be JUNK (even though i got 250,000 out of mine, 84 burb). all the builders say to use the newer ones since they are built better..but yes it will fit & the electric stuff should be the same...joe

My 85 C-10 trany swap

Does it make a difference if they recently rebuilt it? I was told I need a new torque converter because the one I have in my 85 will not fit in the rebuilt 82 trany and If I went with a newer one I need electrical or computer components, but Im not sure if im saying that correctly.

Sorry for the late response, I went to the goodguys auto show in Pleasanton ca today and just got back.

Thanks, I appreciate all the help I can get.

IF you are simply driving the vehicle as a daily driver... the 1982 unit will function fine.

The 1982 units had a smaller input shaft, the torque converter must match the shaft.

If the 1982 unit was rebuilt correctly , then it should work fine
