Will body panel adhesive work for this?

I am thinking of using body panel adhesive for assembling various metal parts in a custom console that I am building.

One of the reasons, is that even if I tack weld from the back side, I may have (heat) discolouration which shows through on the finished side. I am making my console out of polished stainless steel, brushed aluminum, and of course som upholstery, plastic, vinyl etc.

What do you think?
Where can i learn about the application process?
How good is the adhesive and what is the usual tolerance?

The seams will all be hidden, so there is nothing visible from the topside of the console.

Thanks for any advise.

as long as you are bonding metal to metal with a good overlap( an inch perferably) I would say that would be a good way to go, what are you planing on bonding?

Grind both mating surfaces first and make sure its where you want it because you'll never get it back apart. The metal tears before the bond will...I use SEM weld bond adheasive, just pick the set time you want..Sounds like an interesting project.

Ripped,

I've often thought of using adhesive to assemble some smaller, more intricate metal pieces but have always been perplexed with what to do with the raw edge of metal where you overlap the parts. Could you give some clues as to how you intend to deal with that?

Without a doubt your project is PERFECT for bonding.
