will c-6 trans fit into a 302 ranger

I am building a 302 from a 1983 F-150 that had a C6 auto transmission. The engine is going into a 1985 ranger 4x2. Most posts recommend a c4 or c5 transmission, why not a c6.? Are there clearance issues or what is the reason?

I would say it is the clearance issues they are talking about JMO
but IMHO the C4 would work best for what you are putting it in and you can build a C4 that can handle some pretty serious HP and alot more room to work with. JMO

body lift

A 2 or 3 inch body lift kit would give you more room, the 302 has interference with the heater box, fuel pump and oil filter . A c 6 would most likely require floor pan hammering or cut and weld.
