Will this chassis work with anything?
Hey. I've posted before about using my grandmothers 1983 olds regency 98 for something. I was thinkin maybe I could use the engine, but decided against that. I saw someone selling a 49 merc on the HAMB that used an 85 cutlass frame. I was just wondering whether shoebox ford body would fit on a 1983 olds 98 frame. The wheelbase is 116 inches. I have enough money to buy a body in need of work, but the money for a new frame and all the suspension components isn't there. So, that's why I'm thinkin if I could just clean up and replace some stock parts on the olds chassis, that would help out. Anyone know of any body styles of any pre 60's cars that might be able to fit? Has anyone ever done a frame swap and use a modern car chassis with an old street rod body? Again, I don't have the tools or the money to build a street rod chassis with all the high tech components on it now, so I'm just trying to use what's available to me. Whatever I build is definitely going to be driven daily, and it's not going to be a show car, and I'm not concerned about handling or anything of that sort. That's why I figured this olds chassis would do. Someone told me a while back that an s-10 frame would work well for street rod apps because a sbc would bolt in easily beacuse summit sells the motor mounts for the frame. But, the olds 98 is free, so I can't go wrong with that. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
