Rob.
If im not mistaken, a 327 crank will fit, but may need the journals reground. I think thats how Chevy got the ole 302's.
Im sure others can help, but I believe Im right. Hg
Also, try PAW. They have a lot of engine kits.

Hemmie is right, a 327 crank will fit into a 283 in turn you end up with the chevy 302.

Hey strtsquirrel1681 ,I hate to rain on your parade, but a 283 is 3.875 bore X 3 stroke. The 302 is 4 X 3. 327 is 4 x 3.25 307 is what you would get by putting a 327 crank in a 283. 307 is 3.875 x 3.25. Now all that said, put a 283 crank in a 327 block and get a 302!!!
As far as what will fit go to <a href="http://www.mortec.com" target="_blank">www.mortec.com</a>
They have a listing of all the bore/stroke combo's and a listing of journal sizes, block and head casting numbers etc. A good site, and I use it often.

Make sure you get a small journal 327 crank. After '68 they were the "newer" large journal.

mortec says 307 and 327 stroke is 3.25. 283 is indeed 3.0. all i can see is that a 302 crank will fit. good luck finding one. you'll have to finda ol' 283 bra. worth doing tho, and bore it to 4 inches. ..302. but factory 302 hadda 4 bolt main.
