Will a pontiac 455 go in my 65 Wildcat?

Hey there! I was just wondering if I could stick a Pontiac 455 in my wildcat? I just bought this from my cousin and this is his account and am about to get a new one but he said to use his for now. It has a Wildcat 445 but its hashed now and all I have is a stock Pontiac 455 and I need to know if it will go in and what I need to get. Thanks!!

Yep, it will fit, you need motor mount brackets and mounts from a '65 or later Pontiac of the same body style . Wildcat was a full size right? Then you'd want parts from a Catalina or Bonneville or '65-'67 Grand Prix. It should bolt up to your trans, not sure if the radiator inlet and outlet are on the same side, if not get a Pontiac radiator it will make buying radiator hoses much simpler. There may be some very minor modifying to do but it's pretty much a bolt-in if you can find the right pieces.

Thanks!!

Um... I dont know if it will bolt right up to the tranny tho because the tranny is totally round at the top! this was my main area of problem sizing them up. If I put a pontiac 400 transmission in it would it be to the same trans mounts? Oh and yea it was a full size. What about drive lines if I have to change the tranny?

Not sure if the '65 Nailheads had the later B-O-P bellhousing pattern but if not a long tailhousing TH400 from a later fullsize Buick or a '65-up full size Pontiac, Olds or Cadillac should work and would use the same mount and driveshaft. That's the beauty of GM cars. A LOT of stuff interchanges!
