will this rear fit?

anyone know if a rear gm 10 bolt 8.5 from a 1994 buick-impala will fit in my 1987 caprice.a guy has one for sale(cheap) and i was wondering if it will work. thanks joe.

Yes. The 1977-1996 B-body chassis is the same. It's a bolt in, so long as both are sedans or both are wagons. The wagon axle is wider than the sedan axle. Also, your 87 may have either 5 x 4.75" or 5 x 5" wheel lug bolt patterns. The 94 will have 5 x 5". Finally, if you have a 7.5" now, the driveshaft length may need to change. If you have an 8.5" now, it's no problem.

thanks joe,the rear is out of a ss impala.i didn't know about the drive shaft.car had a 8.5 in it but my uncle who was working on it put a 7.5 in.go figure.
