It will bolt on but it won't work. 454 needs weighted flywheel/flexplate

I made that mistake once and it wasnt pretty. I took out a normal internally Balanced 350 and installed what I thought was just a different year Junk Yard Motor. SOB turned out to be a 400 externally balanced motor and I used the original Flywheel and HOLY VIBRATION BATMAN IS ALL I CAN SAY
(what could I say it was 30+ years ago and I was young and foolish )

couper

283-427 uses the same flex plate, (except 400)motors are Internally Balanced
454 uses a unique Flex Plate (except Gen V & VI) motor is Externally Balanced

Question for you Prostreet?
What about the 366 and 427 tall deck blocks. Same internally balanced like a 396 or 427 short deck or externally balanced.

Thats a good question and I honestly dont know the answer, only know the ones I've had or had problems with, the 350/400 screw up I experienced and I cracked a few 454 Flex Plates in my old 70 Chevelle SS

I do know those Tall Deck Truck & Bus Motors were pretty cool, I actually bought a big ***** GMC delivery truck @ 35 yrs ago and tried to fist put the BB in my Box Nova (screwed that up ). Then I put it in my 70 SS Camaro and it gave me many miles of tire shredding enjoyment.

Tall deck or short doesn't make a difference. 366 396 402 427 all use neutral balance.
