will styled 14x6 s10 wheels clear 11" brakes
I have 2 styled steel 14x6 S10 wheels ( also reffered to as s10 ralleys ) as rollers for my '51 Chevy. to keep the cost down for my ratrod, I bought 2 more so I have a set of 4..
will 11" ford brakes ( for '37-'48 Ford spindles ) clear the 14x6 S10 ralley wheels? or will I need the Chevy spindles with smaller brakes.. |
I do not think I would want to chance it when on a budget..get the chev spindles and smaller brakes..If you call speedway they do carry the front end components in plain steel but you need to actually call them as I do not see them in my catalog..quite a bit of savings and that is one area I do not like to skimp on..

yea. I'm getting all the plain steel stuff.. plain steel spring behind front end kit is just over $500 shipped.. I'll order the axle for the Chevy spindles then

The stock S-10 front brakes are 10.75" What brakes are you using on your 51? Note that many vendors round up 10.75" to 11".

brakes on the '51 are the stock drums..
some of the 'chevy' brake kits are listed as 10 3/4" in my speedway catalog... what I don't get is Speedway has a Ford brake kit that is 11".. also there cheapest brake kit and it's listed as " great for T's" and on the same page of my catalog it has a little paragraph that says 11" brakes are great for '35+ cars, but for '23-'34 cars 11" brakes are too big.. my rat should weigh in less than 2,500 lbs |
Most t's run those little skinny tires and it does not take all that much brake to lock those up..The later heavier cars have fatter wider tires and can use more brake so you should be fine with the smaller brakes on the front..
