Question Willys bodies

Has anyone had any experience with either Heritage or Active Power fiberglass Willys bodies.

Also, how much is involved in the process of working on the exterior once you decide on a body manufacturer.

Haven't worked on either one. Streetrodder (September issue)had an excellent article about a car called Backdraft . It was an Outlaw chassis and body.

There are different opinions on Heritage. Getting hold of the folks and long delivery times have been mentioned before around here.

I don't remember anyone mentioning Active Power around the board. Maybe someone will confess up.

Hi, To answere your question I got an email from a guy that has a Heritage and he says you get what you pay for. Reading into it I guess he is not real happy and from the picture I can see why. As far as Active...I did talk to him a while back and he seems to be and honest person. The pictures look ok but I would sure like to see it first.
My car (41 Willys) is from Antique and Collectable and is nearly flawless considering it is not painted. It needs only a little buffing to make it look like it was painted. Other than the scratches that I've put in it there were none when I got it. It fits the frame, the fenders fit perfectly, the hood...well none of the body mfg hood fit very well..fact of life. Otherwise excellent car.
Don't be too down on long deliveries..most of the body mfg are out 3-4 months at least.
As far as what had to be done to the exterior. We'll mine will hit the street as is with a good buffing. There were no mold lines or flashing and only a little trimming of the windows before the glass was installed. It took less that 8 hours to put the basic body and fenders together including making all of the blind nuts I used to mount the fenders and front end.
I've worked 7 months off and on and I'm within 2 grand of starting it up and driving to the first rod meet. I've done everything myself except for having the axels resplined. Lots of work but fun. If you haven't got the car yet be sure your bank can handle the continuous cash drain. LOL There is no cheap Willys.

hope this helps
