Windage Tray

Can anyone tell me the advantage of installing a windage tray? I have a 68 GTO and I am building the engine from the block up. It will be strictly street. Is it worth the $60 or so to install one?

Thanks,
Simon

windage trays do what there called, help to control windage. there mostly don`t help until high RPM, so on a street machine where you won`t be revving it high on a regular basis, I don`t think you really need one. Oil tends to hang around the crankshaft, a "rope effect" as it`s called, windage trays reduce this by keeping it away from the crank.
