Hi, I just bought a 68 Dodge Coronet 440 that's been sitting in the woods since '77- It has several rust issues, to say the least. My concern is for the windshield posts (I guess that's what you call 'em)- they are deteriorated to the point that I'm not sure if I can salvage them.
Has anyone had to deal with this problem? I'm not a bad welder, and can certainly do body work- but I don't know whether I should try to fabricate some kind of strange patch and weld it in, or cut some posts from a donor car, and weld that in, or what. It seems like you wouldn't be able to weld something like that entirely, because of it's awkward shape. The problem there would be finding a donor car to use... What about fiberglass?? Would that hold up, or separate after a while?
Anyway- I got a good deal on the car, and would like to fix it up, if possible. My other option would be to part it out, if I can't feasably fix the rust issues. I would appreciate anyone's help or input!!
Thanks,
Nick
