Post Windshield wiper problems??

I have a 1973 Javaline with a six cylinder engine and strait shift transmission. I have an intermitant problem with the windshield wipers. You turn them on and they work fine for about 5 minutes, then they suddenly turn off for 30 seconds to a minute then they come back on. By the time I get my volt ohm meter out they are working fine again. Anyone know what is causing this?

It could be as easy as a bad ground. Up north here that is very common. The older the cars get the worse they seem to be. Oterwise the brushes in the motor might be going bad.

HEY HOT ROD: i had the exact same problem in my street rod. They would run and then just stop <img src="graemlins/sweat.gif" border="0" alt="[sweat]" /> It looked and checked grounded but it was intermittent, tighten up and clean ground...DAVE
