Big glass shops that do custom work, have a giant belt sander and they just grind them down.

I believe if they are cutting them down alot, they cut them with a die grinder with a glass cutting disc. Then they sand the edges.

I have used a body grinder with a 36 grit closed coat sanding disk. Lay tape to the edge you want to finish at, and start grinding. someone with a garden hose dribbling water on it helps tostop the heat that can cause cracking. Just take your time and remember, you may distroy one or two before you learn the feel. I learned on side window glass from a junk yard cars before ever triing it on a windshield.

GOOD LUCK
